This is a rare performance, as Steve Coleman and Reflex (which is a saxophone+bass+drums trio) has rarely performed in the USA.

    On April 22, 2017 at 8:00pm, Steve Coleman and Five Elements will perform in a free concert at the Coolidge Auditorium – Thomas Jefferson Building 10 First Street SE, Washington, DC. Steve will perform a new work commissioned by the Library of Congress,as part of the “Concerts from the Library of Congress” series, with support from the Reva & David Logan Foundation.

    On May 16 through May 21 2017, Steve Coleman and Five Elements return to The Historic Village Vanguard at 178 7th Ave South in New York City for 6 nights of creative music. After their successful 2015 and 2016 gigs at the Vanguard, for the week of May 16 2017, Steve’s group will once again bring their unique approach to creative music to the historical nightclub.

    On July 9, 2017 at 3:15pm, Steve Coleman and The Council of Balance will perform at the Northsea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam, Netherlands (on the Madeira stage).

    This large ensemble, which is featured on the recording Synovial Joints, does not frequently perform in Europe, so be sure to catch this rare performance.

    Steve Coleman and Five Elements Paris Residency

    Allentown, Pennsylvania - September 13, 2014: Steve Coleman practices in his backyard on Saturday September 13, 2014 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

    From October 6 through October 19, 2017, Steve Coleman and Five Elements, along with other musical ensembles, will present a residency in Paris, France. The primary location of activities will be la Petite Halle (la Villette), Paris, France.

    The time and dates of various workshops around Paris will be announced as the residency gets closer. There will also be various outreach activities mostly done in Paris.


    Steve Coleman and Five Elements have previously presented successful residencies all around the United States, and is now in the process of presenting residencies in international locations. These residencies are designed to generate energy in the areas where they occur, educate local musicians and introduce audiences to creative and progressive music.

    From December 1 through December 15, 2017, Steve Coleman and Five Elements will present a residency in Los Angeles. The primary location of activities will be the Blue Whale in downtown Los Angeles.
