Steve Coleman and Five Elements: Philadelphia Residency (past event)

From October 5 through October 18 2015, Steve Coleman and Five Elements will present a music residency in the city of Philadelphia. Some of the locations of these activities will be the Rigby Mansion in Germantown (the main hub of our activities), the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Kimmel Center, Swarthmore College, the Philadelphia Clef Club, and various pop-up performances and activities around the broader Philadelphia area. Events and activities will happen in a variety of locations throughout the city. We’ll be making ongoing announcements here, so check back often!

     

    Activities include:

  • Multiple Pop-Up Performances
  • Multiple Workshops
  • Outreach Programs for the Community
  • Open Rehearsals for the Community and Musicians
  • Local Musicians participating in many of these activities
  •  

    ADVANCED INTENSIVE WORKSHOP
    Monday, October 12, 4-7pm
    Tuesday, October 13, 4-7pm
    Wednesday, October 14, 4-7pm
    Thursday, October 15, 4-7pm
    Friday, October 16, 4-7pm

    These five 3-hour workshops will focus on merging intuitive and logical faculties. Sessions led by Coleman will develop individual work, demonstration, theoretical skills, and listening. Sessions led by the band will focus on ensemble demonstrations, communication, and instrumentation. Includes some public rehearsals and performances. All workshops will be held at the Rigby Mansion in Germantown. Tickets are extremely limited.
